Bot Name: Bozos TTS

Owner/Developer: Blake Harrington

Contact Discord User ID: 828621165277741107

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Bozos TTS ("the Bot," "we," "us," or "our") processes information when you use the Bot on Discord.

Bozos TTS is a Discord text-to-speech bot that can join a voice channel and read messages posted in that voice channel's built-in text chat.

By using Bozos TTS, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information Processed by the Bot

Bozos TTS may temporarily process the following information:

Discord Account Information

The Bot may access:

  • Your Discord username
  • Your server nickname or display name
  • Your server and voice-channel information
  • Whether you are currently connected to a voice channel

This information is used to determine whether your message should be spoken and to announce the sender's display name.

Voice-Channel Chat Messages

When Bozos TTS has been activated using /join, it processes messages that are:

  • Posted in the built-in text chat of the voice channel where the Bot is connected

For example, a message may be converted into speech in the following format:

Hermione Granger said, Hello everyone.

2. Information Processed by the Bot (continued)

Command Information

The Bot processes interactions with commands such as:

  • /join
  • /leave
  • /help

This may include the server, channel, user, and time associated with the command.

Technical and Diagnostic Information

For maintenance and troubleshooting, the Bot may temporarily record:

  • Command execution events
  • TTS generation times
  • Server or channel identifiers
  • Message sender display names
  • Message text included in diagnostic logs

These logs are used only to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Bot.

3. How Information Is Used

Information is processed to:

Voice Channel Connection

Connect the Bot to Discord voice channels

Message Processing

Determine which VC chats should be spoken

Sender Announcement

Announce the sender's server display name

Speech Synthesis

Convert text into synthesized speech

Audio Playback

Queue and play generated audio

Service Reliability

Detect and resolve technical errors, prevent misuse and maintain service reliability

4. Text-to-Speech Processing

Bozos TTS currently uses an Edge-compatible text-to-speech service to generate audio.

To create speech, the Bot may transmit the following text to the third-party TTS service:

  • The sender's server display name
  • The message being converted into speech

For example:

Hermione Granger said, Hello everyone.

The service may process this text on external infrastructure. Users should not send passwords, authentication tokens, payment details, medical information, or other sensitive personal information through a voice-channel chat while TTS is active.

5. Audio Files

Generated speech audio may be temporarily saved as an audio file on the Bot's hosting environment.

These temporary files are used only for playback in the Discord voice channel and are deleted after playback or after a failed playback attempt.

The Bot is not designed to maintain a permanent archive of generated audio.

6. Data Storage and Retention

Bozos TTS does not currently maintain a permanent database of voice-channel messages or generated audio.

Temporary data may remain for limited periods in:

Active memory

The TTS processing queue

Temporary audio files

Application logs

Discord's own systems

Third-party TTS service systems

Operational logs may be retained according to the hosting provider's log-retention settings. Information should not be kept longer than reasonably necessary for operation and troubleshooting, consistent with data-minimisation and storage-limitation principles.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information.

Information may be shared only as reasonably necessary by service providers involved in operating the Bot, including:

Discord

For commands, messages, servers, users, and voice connections

Microsoft or an Edge-compatible speech service

For text-to-speech generation

Other infrastructure providers

Required to deliver the service

8. User Controls

Server members can stop the Bot from processing new voice-channel chat messages by using:

/leave

Users may also:

  • Avoid posting in the active voice channel's built-in chat
  • Leave the voice channel
  • Ask a server administrator to remove the Bot
  • Request information or deletion concerning data directly controlled by the Bot operator

Requests can be sent to [email protected]

Deletion requests cannot remove information controlled independently by Discord, Railway, Microsoft, or another third-party provider.

9. Server Administrator Responsibilities

Server administrators who add Bozos TTS should:

Inform members that messages may be converted into speech

Use the Bot only in appropriate channels

Ensure the Bot has only the permissions it needs

Avoid activating TTS where sensitive or confidential conversations occur

Follow applicable laws, Discord rules, and server policies

10. Children's Privacy

Bozos TTS is not intended to collect personal information from children beyond what is necessary to provide its Discord functionality.

Users must meet Discord's minimum age requirements and any higher minimum age required in their country.

A parent or guardian who believes that a child's information has been processed improperly may contact [email protected].

11. Security

Reasonable measures are used to protect the Bot and its credentials. However, no internet-based system can guarantee absolute security.

Users must not post:

  • Discord bot tokens
  • API keys
  • Passwords
  • Banking information
  • Government identification numbers
  • Other confidential information

into a channel being monitored by the Bot.
